Please note that every healing experience is different and unique to the individual. Trust that you will receive what you need and will step away a better version of yourself.

About Reiki

What to expect before, during and after a Reiki session?

Before the session:

We will have a quick chat about your intention. It is useful to journal before the session so that you are clear what you hope to gain out of it. Journalling clears subconscious blockages and sets the stage for healing to be done. Journalling also empowers you because you are the cocreator of the experience - the practitioner is merely the facilitator.

Drink plenty of water to boost the body's ability to detox.

Wear comfortable clothing that makes you feel relaxed.

Relax in a safe space where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the

session. If you like, you can listen to music which will put you in a meditative

state or light candles to enhance your experience. Remember to switch off your phone!

During the session:

During the session, I will clear your energy and set your intention. Once the Reiki starts to flow to you, you may experience bodily sensations such as  heat or pulsing.  Conversely, you may not feel any sensations at all. You may also find vivid images coming to mind. As Reiki induces deep relaxation, it is common to find yourself drifting off to a peaceful sleep. All experiences are normal. Trust that you will receive all that you need.

After the session:

Expect to feel relaxed, calm and rejuvenated. Expect to continue to receive insights and clarity. Expect random bursts of heightened emotions (positive or negative) and allow them to flow without judgement - Reiki helps to integrate all parts of you even parts that society may deem scary or unpleasant.

Occasionally, a "healing crisis" or detox may occur and this can take

the form of headaches, stomach upsets or emotional releases.

These symptoms are a sign that the body is releasing toxins that

could otherwise have culminated in diseases/illnesses.

It is helpful to drink lots of water and avoid alcohol or caffeinated drinks. Consider sipping on herbal tea or juices instead.

Slow down i.e. schedule time for the body to rest and allow the energy work to integrate. Unplug from technology to help your nervous system relax and regulate.

Lastly, be patient if the desired changes don't show up immediately. The healing has happened and will externalise itself, in due time.
